Corvette Windshields

Is the windshield on your Corvette cracked or broken?

I had just purchased my 2005 Corvette and had only had it for a month. Being new the car was perfect, a couple weekends after purchasing it I spent the weekend detailing it as I often do. I was marveling at how the condition was mint in every way. The next day, Monday, I was driving to work and I got behind a dump truck. There is a lot construction where I live and I swear every 20th vehicle is a dump truck). Well I was trying to keep my distance and probably got a little closer than I should have trying to squeeze through a stop light, and then it happened. It such a piercing noise when it does happen. A rock hit the windshield and resulted in a 3in diameter star shaped chip. I was fuming!!!!

I got on the gas to catch up with him. The road finally was changing to a four lane diveded highway so I could drive up along side him. I didn’t really have a plan, but when I got up beside him, the one thing I did think to do was to get his plate number. I pulled past him and got the tag number from the front bumper.

I called the trucking company when I got home and after much heated discussion I was able to get them to agree to pay my deductable. So the next step was to go about replacing the glass to restore my Vette to new condition. Maybe I’m just not very trusting, but it kills me to have other people work on my cars. I thus decided that I would do my own install. I thought no problem, I just need to lookup the part number on the net and order it. That is when I got somewhat of a surprise and learned that it is not so simple always. There are a number of different Windshields for your corvette. Because of this frustration, this site was born…..
